Practical Social Studies (Period 6)

This course emphasizes the student’s awareness of the legal resources available in the community. The course will focus on issues, laws, and legal documents relevant to the student’s needs and includes the areas of civic responsibilities and the means by which to avoid exploitation. In addition, the course also concentrates on the skills needed to obtain basic and vital information necessary to function efficiently within the student’s natural environment. Students will learn information and services related to the Social Security Administration, the United States Postal Service, and the Department of Human Resources.
