Welcome!
About Me
I am Mr. Onate, one of our Resource Specialist (RSP) teachers here at Huntington Park High School. This is my fourth year working here. As part of HPHS's full inclusion model, I share classrooms with General Education teachers to co-teach our entire student population and address their needs. This school year, I am co-teaching both ERWC (English 12) with Ms. Solis and Mr. Juarez and Principles of Democracy (Gov/Econ) with Mr. Bonsteel. You can see my specific course schedule to the right. If you have any questions, concerns, or comments, please contact me via Schoology, email at [email protected], or Google Voice at (323) 448-2225.
I was born and raised in East Los Angeles and attended LAUSD schools for most of my K-12 education. I am a first-generation graduate from Dartmouth College, where I earned a Bachelor's degree in Italian with a minor in Education in 2021. In June 2022, I obtained my Education Specialist teaching credential at Loyola Marymount University. The following year, I also earned my Master's in Urban Education. Currently, I am back in school attending CSU Long Beach to pursue a single-subject credential in Italian and Spanish. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, reading, hiking, playing video games, and practicing my Italian language skills.
